TGI Fernando is a Professor in Computer Science in the Department of Computer Science, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. He completed his BSc (Hons) degree in Mathematics in 1993 and MSc in Industrial Mathematics in 1998 at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. Subsequently, in 2002, he completed his second MSc in Computer Science at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Thailand. Afterwards, he completed his PhD in Intelligent Systems at the Brunel University (UK) in 2009. He has received several academic awards/scholarships for his research achievements and education. His research interests are mainly in intelligent systems, evolutionary computing, swarm intelligence, neural networks (including deep neural networks), machine learning, multi-objective combinatorial optimization and root finding of non-linear equations.

Prof Fernando supervises research projects leading to MPhil and PhD degrees in the areas of Intelligent Systems, Evolutionary Computing, Swarm Intelligence, Neural Networks (including deep neural networks), Machine Learning, Multi-Objective Combinatorial Optimization and Root Finding of Non-linear Equations.
